the
text factory was a course for writers who want to discover
new techniques by adventuring with unusual forms and uncommon ideas.
Tutored by Dianne Darby and Keith Jafrate, the course consisted of 8
day-long sessions run over 4 months, and focused on the creation of
new work by each participant.
The overall spirit of the course was adventure, and the exercises used
in workshop sessions were designed as much to create challenges and
questions as to generate polished writing.
The course ended
in April 2002, with participants successfully launched on new projects,
and fired up with new ideas
as a result of the challenges of the
text factory.
