an installation and film created march 2005 A woman watches herself in the mirror and becomes a story. Some of her story occurs on the tv, some of her story can be found on the shelves of her room, in photos and letters, notes to herself, in the things she keeps in her dressing-table drawers. The Unblinking Eye is an exploration of how we see ourselves on the tv, caught on camera, & in the mirror, & asks what are we looking at? |

The
Unblinking Eye has been created as part of a project exploring how women’s
bodies are represented in the media and how we see ourselves. The installation
and film was developed through a process of writing and visual art workshops
with women working with The Word Hoard, but we do not see it as a finished
product, more a work in progress. If you are interested in the work of close
to the bone, please contact us.
